INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

General Criteria

Individual Awards are given to an outstanding candidate for work accomplished between July 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025. 

The Awards Committee is composed of individuals from the civil engineering  industry representing both public and private sectors. The award selection is a competitive process. Be sure to present your entry in the most complete and thorough manner possible.

We recommend typing out your responses in a Word Document before entering on the website to ensure your work is saved. The Awards Committee will review all entries once the application period is closed, and will reach out to all entries if they were selected or not. You can expect to hear from us towards late May/early June.

The information and images submitted may be used for promotional purposes by ASCE.

Specific Criteria

  1. This award is given on the basis of outstanding engineering achievement. Consideration shall be given to the Engineer that has exhibited professional achievement and has made significant impact to the field of civil engineering. This impact may be through professional activities, ASCE involvement, research and innovative engineering solutions.
  2. This award is intended to be awarded to individuals in the private sector.
  3. The nominee for this award shall be a Registered Professional Engineer and be a member of ASCE Sacramento Section.
  1. This award is given on the basis of outstanding engineering achievement. Consideration shall be given to the Engineer that has exhibited professional achievement and has made significant impact to the field of civil engineering. This impact may be through professional activities, ASCE involvement, research and innovative engineering solutions.
  2. This award is intended to be awarded to individuals employed by a public organization.
  3. The nominee for this award shall be a Registered Professional Engineer and be a member of ASCE Sacramento Section.
  1. This award recognizes the outstanding achievements of an ASCE Student Member from one of the four Sacramento Section University Student Chapters (California State University Sacramento, California State University Chico, University of California Davis and University of the Pacific).
  2. The nominee must be an active Student Member of ASCE Sacramento Section in the spring of the year the award is given or the fall of the previous year.
  3. The nominee must be enrolled in an ABET accredited Civil Engineering program in the spring of the year the award is given or the fall of the previous year.
  1. This award recognizes a younger civil engineer who has exhibited professional achievement and has made significant impact to the field of civil engineering. This impact may be through professional activities, ASCE involvement, research and innovative engineering solutions.The award recipient shall be the person, in the judgment of the Awards Committee, who has best demonstrated these traits and has brought distinction upon himself/herself, ASCE and the field of civil engineering.
  2. This award is intended for ASCE Younger Members, who are members age 35 years or younger as of December 1, 2021.
  3. The nominee for this award shall have at a minimum an Engineer in Training certificate and actively pursuing licensure as a Registered Professional Engineer.
  4. The nominee must be a member of ASCE.
 
  1. The award is given annually to an outstanding ASCE Section, Branch, YMF, Practitioner Advisor, Faculty Advisor or Institutes Officer within the Sacramento Section. This award is intended to recognize dedication, hard work and ingenuity that Sacramento Section leaders provide to ASCE. Consideration shall be given to the Sacramento Section Leader who has exhibited exceptional leadership, management, service, or innovative ideas to the Sacramento Section.
  2. The nominee for this award shall be a member of ASCE Sacramento Section.
  3. The nominee must be a current and active Board Member of one of the Sacramento Section entities.
  1. This award recognizes an ASCE member who, through their innovative efforts and long-term involvement, have advanced or significantly contributed to the field of civil engineering.
  2. Consideration shall be given to the member who has exhibited professional achievement and has made significant impact to the field of civil engineering. This impact may be demonstrated in both professional activities, ASCE involvement and community involvement.
  3. The nominee for this award shall be a Registered Professional Engineer and a member of ASCE Sacramento Section.
  1. This award is given on the basis of outstanding engineering achievement specifically related to Transportation Engineering. Consideration shall be given to the Engineer that has exhibited professional achievement, leadership, and exceptional dedication in either the Private or Public Sector and who has made significant impact to the field of transportation. This impact may be through professional activities, ASCE involvement, research and innovative engineering solutions.
  2. This award is intended to be awarded to individuals in the Private or Public Sectors.
  3. The nominee for this award shall be a Registered Professional Engineer and be a member of Sacramento Section of ASCE.
  1. This award recognizes engineers in the Sacramento Section which have furthered techniques in geotechnical methods, engaged in materials research, and provided outstanding service to geotechnical engineering.
  2. The nominee for this award shall be a Registered Professional Engineer and be a member of the Sacramento Section of ASCE.
  1. This award recognizes engineers in the Sacramento Section which have furthered techniques in flood control and water supply, and provided outstanding service to engineering in water resources.
  2. The nominee for this award shall be a Registered Professional Engineer and be a member of the Sacramento Section of ASCE.
  1. This award recognizes engineers in the Sacramento Section which have furthered techniques and provided outstanding service to structural engineering.
  2. The nominee for this award shall be a Registered Professional Engineer and be a member of the Sacramento Section of ASCE.

PROJECT AWARDS

General Criteria

Awards are given on the basis of projects completed between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024. Strong projects are those considered to be innovative, serving our communities, involving advanced technology, and/or sustainable in nature.

A project to have a single nominator.

A project can be nominated for multiple categories.

The project must be within the geographical boundaries of the Sacramento Section. 

Specific Criteria

Recognizes projects which utilized exceptional or innovative construction methods and/or outstanding project management, design and construction methods to overcome challenges and successfully complete a construction project. This includes implementation of new methods, improvements on existing methods, and/or incorporation of emerging technology.
